Introduction to Cold Water Immersion/CWI

Service Description

Disclaimer: 1. Consultation with a healthcare professional: You must consult with your doctor before using an ice bath if you have any health issues. This precautionary measure is essential to ensure your safety and well-being. 2. Restricted usage: If you fall into any of the following categories, you are strictly prohibited from using the ice bath: individuals under 18 years of age, pregnant women, individuals with a history of heart disease or high blood pressure, individuals with diabetes or complications such as neuropathy or retinal damage, individuals who wear a pacemaker, individuals with a history of frostbite, individuals with an open wound or who have recently undergone surgery, individuals with epilepsy or any other health concerns or risks. Additionally, individuals under the influence of illegal drugs or alcohol are not permitted to participate. 3. Potential risks: Immersion in cold water significantly lowers your body's core temperature. This process causes constriction of blood vessels and reduces the circulation of blood throughout the body. When combined with existing health complications, it can lead to elevated blood pressure and increase the risk of cardiac arrest or stroke. 4. Side effects: While feeling intense cold is the most noticeable side effect of an ice bath, there are other potential risks associated with prolonged exposure. These include hypothermia, frostbite, tachycardia (fast heart rate), arrhythmias (abnormal heart rhythm), and allergic or anaphylactic shock. 5. Our recommendation: Despite the potential side effects and warnings mentioned above, using an ice bath correctly can provide numerous health benefits. We strongly advise starting with short durations of a few minutes and gradually increasing the time as recommended. It is crucial to never push your body beyond its limits and to exercise caution throughout the session. We also recommend refraining from eating a heavy meal within 2 hours before the session, as this may cause discomfort. 6. By participating in the Cold Water Immersion Session at Yoko Yoga Studio, you acknowledge that you have read and understood the above disclaimer. Furthermore, you assume full responsibility for your own health and well-being during the session and release Yoko Yoga Studio and its staff from any liability arising from your participation in this activity.
